The Australian Shepherd story

Drawn as an original engraving in its own landscape and printed as a full archive plate. Comes as a tee, a sweatshirt, a hoodie, a print and a pack of cards, from £30.00.
Despite the name, the breed was made in the American West. Ranchers in California and the Rocky Mountain states developed it through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries from collie-type dogs, some arriving with Basque shepherds who had come by way of Australia, which is how the name fixed itself to the wrong continent. Rodeo trick dogs in the 1950s made it famous. It remains a working stock dog with an unusually strong attachment to one household, the sort that follows a person from kitchen to shed to car and treats the family as a flock to be kept together in one place. The archive drawing gives the merle coat its broken, uneven pattern honestly rather than tidying it, and sets the ears half-lifted, the way an Aussie holds them while listening.

The Australian Shepherd plate
Every plate in the archive is drawn from scratch as a natural-history engraving, the breed set in the country it was made for rather than floated on a white background. The Australian Shepherd is Archive No. 017. The drawing is printed as a full plate across the back of the garment, nothing on the front, and the same plate is used for the print and the cards.
Garments are made when they are ordered, so nothing is printed until it is wanted and nothing is held in a warehouse. UK orders are printed in the UK and North American orders in the USA, which keeps the parcel on the same side of the ocean as the person waiting for it. If it is not right when it arrives, it can go back within 30 days.
