The Boxer story

Germany's old Bullenbeisser held boar and cattle for the hunt, and by the 1890s breeders in Munich had crossed the remnants of that type with imported English bulldogs to fix something faster and cleaner in the muzzle. Boxers served as messenger and pack dogs in the First World War and moved into police work afterwards. None of that history quite explains the behaviour, which is the point every owner raises: the front paws used like hands, the kidney-bean curve of a dog greeting you with its entire spine, and an adolescence that appears to run until about four. Line work in the archive study concentrates on the muzzle and the loose skin above the brow, drawn mid-expression rather than at rest, since a Boxer's face is rarely doing nothing at all.

The Boxer plate
Every plate in the archive is drawn from scratch as a natural-history engraving, the breed set in the country it was made for rather than floated on a white background. The Boxer is Archive No. 016. The drawing is printed as a full plate across the back of the garment, nothing on the front, and the same plate is used for the print and the cards.
Garments are made when they are ordered, so nothing is printed until it is wanted and nothing is held in a warehouse. UK orders are printed in the UK and North American orders in the USA, which keeps the parcel on the same side of the ocean as the person waiting for it. If it is not right when it arrives, it can go back within 30 days.
