Staffordshire Bull Terrier archive tees, sweatshirts and hoodies

In the Black Country foundries and pits of the early nineteenth century, bull and terrier crosses were kept for work the law later ended. The breed that came out the other side was recognised by the Kennel Club in 1935, and the families who kept them had already spent a century selecting hard against any sharpness towards people, which is where the old nanny dog reputation comes from. A Stafford greets a visitor like an old debt being repaid: full body wag, tail against the skirting board, and the entire weight leaned into a shin. Ink in the plate follows the muscle across shoulder and chest, but the mouth is drawn open and easy, because a Stafford that is not smiling is not really a Stafford.
