The Weimaraner story

The Grand Duke of Weimar's court bred a grey pointing dog for big game in the early nineteenth century, and the breed was kept so closely that ownership was restricted to club members until the 1920s. The colour is the breed: silver-grey with a sheen, amber or blue-grey eyes, and a long-eared, aristocratic head. They are fast, biddable, strongly attached to their people and inclined to separation anxiety, and they need a job or a great deal of running. The temperament is more serious than a Labrador's and more sensitive than a Pointer's. The artist put the dog on a misty pine forest track below a hunting lodge with antlers over the door, and drew the coat in very fine even strokes so the grey sits between the black of the trees and the pale of the mist.

The Weimaraner plate
Every plate in the archive is drawn from scratch as a natural-history engraving, the breed set in the country it was made for rather than floated on a white background. The Weimaraner is Archive No. 037. The drawing is printed as a full plate across the back of the garment, nothing on the front, and the same plate is used for the print and the cards.
Garments are made when they are ordered, so nothing is printed until it is wanted and nothing is held in a warehouse. UK orders are printed in the UK and North American orders in the USA, which keeps the parcel on the same side of the ocean as the person waiting for it. If it is not right when it arrives, it can go back within 30 days.
